About Counseling

People usually seek counseling at times of distress; difficult life transitions such as the death of a loved one, the end of a marriage, an illness or accident. Life events can create feelings of loss, anxiety, anger, uncertainty, and fear. Career changes or job stress can bring about health problems, fatigue, sleeplessness, and concentration difficulties. Relationship issues can lead to feelings of loss of control, helplessness, resentment and hopelessness. Counseling can effectively address the issues in your life that contribute to your distress and suffering.

Distress can also be very subtle and present itself without a known cause. There can be times when we have no idea why we might be feeling sad or anxious. In fact, there does not have to be something “wrong” to benefit from counseling. Some troublesome issues we face in life are part of normal development and life stages, and it can be helpful to see that perhaps, the way we are thinking about things is what can be creating the stress.

Psychotherapy and counseling can help you to achieve more of a sense of balance and well-being, accomplish the things that are important to you, and improve the quality of your relationships. It can help you achieve your goals and create the life you want.
